I have used backup/restore in the past to do migrations from one major version to the next. My experience is that backup/restore as a migration tool is not perfect; it should be considered a starting point. Some fix-up is always necessary. Especially in this case where the underlying OS and dependencies are all different, it would be my expectation that some clean-up is required.
