Well, a bad config is a bad config and it doesn't matter if it is vmware, kvm, hyper-v, or bare metal. I have had garbled audio on bare metal and virtualized and had the same issue. Compiled asterisk from source, and the problems went away in both environments. So, anything from a bad binary to a bad install of OS or applications or configs can be the issue. Telling someone Not to use VMware is hardly helping them fix what is likely the real issue. Unfortunately, we probably don't have enough information to solve the issue and what eliminating vmware could do from a troubleshooting perspective is eliminate the hypervisor or bugs in it as the issue. Barring that, the actual issues should be ironed out, and virtualization of some sort used for production.
