I don’t recall ever seeing text on the phone indicating parking slot, how sure are you that you saw that?

I am having a very strange issue with voicemail on FreePBX 14.

I am using pjsip extensions and x-lite as the endpoint

If an extension has voicemail disabled it can dial *97 or *98 and use the menu to check voicemail fo any other extension on the server by supplying the correct box number and password.

Once i enable voicemail for an extension:

Dialing *97 from that extension results in an immediate hang up of the call. the voicemail menu is not played.

In the asterisk cli the following message is displayed.

Priority ‘mbexist’ must be a value > 0, or a valid label

Dialing *98 from that extension plays the voicemail menu and when any extension is specified the call is ended.

Priority ‘good’ must be a value > 0, or a valid label

I’ve tried reloading the voicemail module and rebooting the server with no success.
any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Tom, IMOH Jared has a valid point, you just took his post out of context.
He did not ask them to work off of the community, he asked: If you do you tickets, then why not have someone that will create tickets, based on legit issues that are being reported here.

Could be they had someone, I don’t recall seeing such an account, but I’m a new here I guess… Anyway, currently there’s no one AFAIK.

It’s not (only) about JIRA. If a user took the time to report a bug - it can sometimes take for newbies a good 15 minutes to add all the versioning information, logs and what not.
Don’t close this ticket by saying commercial modules need to go through support.
Have a big banner when you click the button to create a new issue, to let them know before…

Try leaving a voicemail in any mailbox, then try calling it via *97/*98

If it still doesn’t go, post a full log.

Quick and dirty test. It looks like the park notification sent to other phones includes the parking slot, but the notification sent to the parking phone does not. I have an external S505 Extension that was successfully connecting to the pbxact using a vpn client and it suddenly became unreachable. In an effort to get it working I deleted the extension from the EPM and then re-created its entry. When I come to choose the vpn client from the drop down within the EPM/Edit extension I have only options of “none” or “undefined”. I have checked that the vpn client is listed within system admin/vpn server and it does.

If “none” as the vpn client is chosen, the phone connects, gets the background image/config etc and is reachable.
If “undefined” as the vpn client is chosen, the phone boots, the line keys have red lines through them , the display shows “vpn activated” , but no background/config etc is downloaded. The phone is also unreachable.

Any thoughts/clues?

No, I did not. My reply to that was rather sarcastic because he said they should hire someone except they already had someone.

Honest answer? Because they have no clue what to put in the ticket. If you can replicate an issue a user posts about on your system and you open the ticket, you’re going to put the information from your tests because that’s what is needed. Other people with no first hand access or knowledge of the issue should not be opening tickets on things they can’t provide.

How many times have they asked for more information on a ticket? Well if I opened the ticket on your behalf, then I’m the one getting the request for more information. In order to get that information, I need to contact you and then get you to get me that information or get you to post it in the ticket. You essentially have a middle person that is running around chasing down users for follow ups and more details.

Hah, funny story. I just had to take a call and it was someone trying to report issues for another user that was having issues at their home office. Expect for the 5 minute call they couldn’t tell me a thing about the issue because they weren’t the person having it. See how that relates?

Just keep in mind the person that would be doing this would have to do more than just open tickets on someone’s behalf they would have to do actual full on triage of the issue to make sure that a ticket is even relevant. Again, the ticket system is for features/bugs/development requests. If someone needs support to determine if their issue is actually a bug, then that is a support persons job. Only if a bug is considered to be found should they then open a ticket in the issue tracker.

However, one person’s issue does not equate a bug or something that should involve the developers. This is why there is (or should be) a support level check and support processes to make sure frivolous bug reports are not jamming up the ticket system.

Done - ticket #920108. Thank you for the information & advice Lorne. (Even though you’re supposed to just tell me what box I accidentally didn’t check to fix this problem too! )

Might just be that it’s different, even though this does seem like pretty basic functionality for parking, especially considering how many more advanced features are built into the system… even our 15+ year old Cisco phones showed the park slot after parking a call! (We are NOT going back to that system if I have anything to say about it though! )

Are you sure that your provider is in fact sending caller ID info? You can check by connecting a phone with caller ID capability directly to the PSTN line and making a test call from your cellphone. If your cellphone number doesn’t appears on the phone’s display, then you shouldn’t expect it to work on FreePBX because your provider is not sending it.
