You delivering their interenet doesn’t solve DNS as your phones I am sure are setup with DHCP so they will get DNS servers from their DHCP server.

The provider Delivers the right modem and this serves DHCP, the phones are not in the customers primary company network so the providers has full control of DNS which works because he also offers SIP Trunks and also his own PBX solution and he cares about that this has to work, but i only use their Trunks and DSL Lines, i prefer PBXAct and FreePBX.

Well , keep on digging, personally I disagree with the iptables diagnosis, but I guess ‘time will out’ on that one.

In the Management - Auto Provision there is an option for SNMP

Does it work?

Not able to find anything in the wiki. When I enable it, I’m not able to get anything out of it (No response)

Reason for the question:
When my monitoring software scans the network, be nice to auto detect and classify the devices instead of unknown device’ing it.

Not a big issue, but if its there might as well use it.

To add, could very possibly be that he’s running asterisk as root

I understand you get the same count, it’s just for analysing how the various legs are interacting with each other and how they all end up in the same bridge.

Why don’t you register your Yealink phones with two SIP servers?
This way you also have less downtime than using a DNS Failover

Hello just a update. I found out there are two lines that are connected to the Grandstream fxo gateway that is not in the hunt group and i can use them However I’m not sure how i can tell them two lines which are on port 7 and 8 on the Grandstream gateway to just ring in and call out from one Ext only and not to the whole incoming group or outgoing group.

I want to offer a solution that the most phones support without playing around with sip server1 and server2 etc…
The DNS Failover is not the problem and works perfect, if i change the Session timer to a lower value everything would be perfect but im aware that asterisk could be overloaded.

Once you created extensions.

You can either register these phones manually, or provision them by using the commercial Endpoint Manager module.

I just installed from fresh again using the updated guide I am making.
During that process I removed the make samples line.
removing make samples seems to have made a few things have errors after a freepbx install.
Errors that I did not previously have.

So far this is what I have had to do to resolve those errors after the freepbx install:

Dashboard error that broke retrieve_conf said sipsettings was not installed.

sudo fwconsole ma install sipsettings

Dashboard error: Neither app_meetme nor app_confbridge is configured in Asterisk, conferencing, paging and other functionality will not work properly.

go into module admin > select conferences and select uninstall. After it uninstalls, go back in and reinstall it, clear the error from the dashboard then reboot.

with the make samples being ran one time on initial install in my old method everything on the dashboard had green check marks,
without make samples, after the install on dashboard you will see “Mail Queue” with red flame and an error message on mouse hover:
Unknown output from mailq: [[“MSP Queue status…”,“VvarVspoolVmqueue-client is empty”,"\t\tTotal requests: 0",“MTA Queue status…”,“VvarVspoolVmqueue-client is empty”,"\t\tTotal requests: 0"],0]

So far thats three errors, that I dont remember seeing when running make samples on my original guide.
I completely believe you when you say it has caused issues in the past, maybe that has since been resolved?
I really do want to make a guide that is the “correct” way of doing things, but I also need for everything to work.

Maybe it’s that when I removed the make samples line that there were some other steps I should be doing to make up for that?
Any advice appreciated, For the moment I am going to start over and put make samples back in so I can see if the other parts of the guide are working as expected.

Thanks

I would setup all phones that support two SIP servers as I mentioned, and only these devices that don’t set them up with a DNS failover.

I hope you have EPM.

You can separate the individual channels into groups, channels can be in more than one group, you can also use individual channels when asking for an outbound dahdi, if you use the FPX dahdi helper then the wiki above should help.

My final solution for my PBX is now:

Session-Timer to 360 seconds (setting in Phone Config)
Re-Register to 180 seconds. (Setting in Phone Config)

Thats settings i have from the documentation of other Cloud Providers which they use for their phones.
@tonyclewis: With your technical experience, do you have any concerns with this settings?
